UK business grants

Grant programmes we track from their official sources, with deadlines, amounts and who can apply. Grants are never counted as money you have until they are awarded.

We’re checking the first programmes

Programmes appear here once we have verified them against their official source. Grants change often, so we only list what we can keep up to date.

How business grants work

Grants are funding you do not repay, offered by government bodies, local authorities and some private organisations for a specific purpose: a place, a sector, an outcome such as energy saving, or a type of business.

Most are competitive, have fixed windows and pay part of a project’s cost. Many pay in arrears, after you have spent the money and claimed, so you may still need finance in the meantime.

Before you apply

  • Check eligibility on the official page: location, sector and business size rules are strict.
  • Look for match funding: many grants cover only part of the cost.
  • Plan for timing: decisions take weeks or months, and payment may follow the spending.
  • Never pay anyone who promises a grant. Official programmes are free to apply for.
